What is Direct Property investing?
Direct Property investing is an investment in commercial property – that includes office, industrial and retail property - via a direct or unlisted property fund. Investing in direct property can complement other asset classes in an investment portfolio.
Direct property has the following advantages:
It can provide an attractive income return relative to cash and fixed interest. This can contribute to the income generated by the total portfolio that is used to make pension payments. It is important to note that different investments carry different levels of risk. For example, while an investment in direct property may offer a significant yield premium over other asset classes, it may carry additional risks. The tax deferred component of the distribution you receive from direct property can provide tax benefits if the direct property investment is held prior to and sold in the pension stage.

Steven has worked in the Direct Property business for more than seven years and has day-to-day responsibility for overseeing asset management and tenancy matters, managing the financial structure of the funds including debt financing, hedging and stakeholder communications. Prior to joining Charter Hall Group, he worked for Macquarie Group Limited for seven years at their Sydney and London offices. Steven holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
Senior Strategic Investor Relations Manager14 years industry experience / 10 years at Charter Hall Group
Amelia is responsible for financial adviser and direct investor communications, marketing and implementation of strategic customer projects. Amelia has a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney. Prior to joining Charter Hall, Amelia worked at Macquarie Group where she was responsible for marketing and communications for the direct property business.

Craig is a key member of the Group’s unlisted property funds investor relations and communications team. He is an experienced customer support executive with a history of working in the financial services industry including the Bank of Queensland. Craig has a Bachelor's Degree in Business from University of Technology Sydney.

Taylor recently joined the unlisted property funds investor relations and communications team with a mandate of providing excellent service to our investors. Taylor brings a strong understanding of financial markets and investment products, with research and analytical expertise. Prior to joining Charter Hall, Taylor worked as an analyst at a leading global proxy advisory firm. Taylor holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from New York University.
